Our Philosophy

"My Place" Child Care and School Age Center's focus is on the "whole child"

The learning center is designed to nurture the physical, intellectual, social and emotional development of each child through a combination of child-initiated, teacher-directed activities.

The program is flexible and informal, as the children are left free to explore, discover and create acceptable limits. It is also varied in the nature in the hope that the children may discover themselves first as individuals then relate to others in the group.

Our dedicated, professional staff believes play is the greatest avenue for learning in the early years. Play is a child's work and their toys are their tools. In playing together, children share ideas and experiences.

Your Child's Development & Health

The health and development of your child is a primary concern for our staff. Within your child's first 60 days of enrollment you will be asked to complete an Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ).  We use the ASQ as a way to help guide your child's instruction and to make sure your child is meeting all of his/her developmental goals.  The State of Ohio requires that each child must have a physical examination form completed as part of your child’s enrollment. It is important that your child have a comprehensive health screening that includes: vision, dental health, height, weight, hearing and blood lead and hemoglobin levels.  A list of resources is available with your handbook and at the center.  A medical examination has to be updated annually for all children 5 years of age or younger.  Please visit cdc.gov or odh.ohio.gov for more information.
